It’s Eldred Patchett’s second year at the Dwight D Eisenhower Academy and things are looking up. Eldred has the summer to enjoy with his friend, Paul Douglass, in the beautiful city of Paris. And they get to read Ned Harper’s diary, from the year 1655, and find out why a Native American tribe disappeared without a trace from the Great Lakes island of Morgan’s Key, four centuries ago. But trouble is looming. Returning to school on Morgan’s Key, someone is showing far too much interest in Eldred and Paul’s on-going investigation. And whoever’s following them is not averse to using sabotage and potentially more deadly underhand tactics to stop them in their tracks. But just who is on their trail and what do they want? As the action moves between the 17th Century and the present day, Eldred and Paul’s quest becomes a race against time, as the two friends try to solve the mystery and stop an extraordinary 360-year-old secret from falling into the wrong hands.
